E for Everafters

What is "everafter", I wonder?
Happiness, sorrow asunder.

Is it peace, the mind at rest?
Is it closure, of what isn't best?
Or is it just a fairy tale, magic wand, stardust,
Poof! A vanish, as it must?

What is "everafter", I ponder?
Why do we lust behind what may or may not be yonder?

Change is alluring, a charming interlude,
It is merry and cheery, changes you for good.
Change is inevitable, change is here to stay
It kills the everafter, don't wish it away.

A constant chatter,
A steady song and dance,
A twist? No chance.

How predictable, how boring
Where is adventure roaring?
Where is excitement gearing?
Where, where is the spice gathering?

Everafter is only empty chatter,
Not real, not any matter.
It is a story well said,
But life is never a said story, is it?

P. S. This post is the fifth in the A-Z blogging challenge series for April.

Wonderful. I agree that change is alluring and sometimes scary at the same time.

Ooooo everafter. I like your poem.... I think the only thing we can be certain of is change, in ourselves, our environment, our world.
